Donald Trump revealed what his priorities are for the first days, if not hours, of the presidency. In a post on Truth Social, he announced he would pardon all the rebels who participated in the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

"My first actions as your next president will be to close the border and release the January 6 hostages, who have been unlawfully imprisoned!" – Trump wrote last Monday.

As "The Guardian" notes, by calling the rebels "hostages," he tries to downplay the events of January 6, 2021, in which 5 people lost their lives. That day, also around 140 police officers were injured.

Not everyone will like this promise. The attack on the Capitol was condemned by many Americans, becoming the basis for the impeachment procedure against Trump. The former president was charged in this case.

"I don't remember such times"

Trump himself and his supporters downplaying the events that took place at the Capitol is unimaginable to many. Just in January of this year, one of the judges appointed by Republicans said, in his 37 years of service, he does "not remember times when such baseless justifications of criminal activity would enter the mainstream".

"I was horrified to see what findings and blatant lies permeate public opinion," – emphasized Judge Royce Lamberth, quoted by "The Guardian".

To date, 1,358 people have been charged with participating in the riots. Nearly 500 people were charged with assault or obstructing law enforcement. Many of them have already received their sentences.
