Trump faces eroding support amid economic unease

According to an Ipsos poll, the percentage of Americans who viewed Donald Trump favourably during his second presidency has decreased from 47% to 44%. Despite this, 47% of Americans approve of his immigration policy, although concerns about the state of the economy are intensifying.

A survey commissioned by Reuters shows that his approval rating among Americans fell from 47% to 44% in the first month of Donald Trump's presidency. Simultaneously, the number of people with a negative opinion of his performance rose from 41% to 51%.

While 47% of respondents view Trump's immigration policy positively, his economic actions are causing increasing alarm. At the end of January, 43% of those surveyed supported the president's economic policies, whereas by mid-February, only 39% did. Just 32% of respondents rated his actions positively regarding inflation, and 41% approved of his trade policy.

"This was the foundation of Trump's political strength"

This downturn is accompanied by a feeling that the state of the economy is weakening. The percentage of people who assessed the economy negatively increased from 43% to 53% since the end of January.

Reuters highlights that Trump's political strength was rooted in voters' confidence that his policies would boost the economy. Despite this, his economic approval ratings surpass those of his predecessor, Joe Biden.

Analysts pointed out that one of the main reasons for the Democrats' defeat in the November elections was Americans' dissatisfaction with the state of the economy.
