Trump crowned online: Uproar over royal imagery in America

After the publication of an image depicting Trump with a crown, posted on the White House account, New York Governor Kathy Hochul reacted with outrage. Politicians note: "In the USA, we don't have kings."

"Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING” - wrote Donald Trump, announcing on his social media platform Truth Social that tolls for entering paid parking zones do not apply.

A similar post, along with the image showing Trump in a crown, was published on the White House account on Platform X.

Following this high-profile publication, numerous comments regarding its content appeared online, which have been summarised by journalists and foreign politicians or commentators.

The issue was addressed by New York Governor Kathy Hochul, who stated: "Donald Trump isn't a 'king' and we won't let him use New Yorkers as roadkill on his revenge tour. We’ll see him in court."

"We don’t have kings in the USA," summarised Don Beyer, a Democrat from Virginia.

"Republicans: Republicans: Stop overreacting and calling Trump a king. Literally the White House twitter account:" - posted David Hogg, vice-chairman of the National Democratic Committee, along with the image below.

"As Governor of Illinois, my oath is to the Constitution of our state and our nation.We don’t have kings in America, and I won’t bend the knee to one," stated JB Pritzker.
