At his second Saturday rally in Detroit, organized by the right-wing organization Turning Point USA, Donald Trump addressed the issue of American aid to Ukraine. Earlier, he criticized the US president for allegedly wasting money and called the investment in green transformation "a scam business."

"I think Zelensky is maybe the best salesman of any politician that's ever lived. Every time he comes to our country, he walks away with 60 billion dollars," Trump mocked.

He insisted that he likes the Ukrainian president because when Trump was accused of blackmailing Ukrainian authorities over military aid during the impeachment process, Zelensky denied that Trump pressured him.

Donald Trump mocked Ukrainian president. "Greatest salesman in history"

I tell you, Zelensky is one of the greatest salesmen in history. Every time he comes to the country, he walks away with 50 or 60 billion dollars - the former US president said.
And i like him, you know on the impeachement hoax number one, he was very good - he continued.

The £49 billion figure that Trump mentioned is the money approved by Congress back in April. Trump indirectly contributed by proposing a swap of financial support for Kyiv with a loan.

The latest visit by President Zelensky to the United States occurred not four days ago but in December 2023.

During the election campaign, Trump repeatedly promised that he would end the war in Ukraine within a day without providing details but suggesting it would involve territorial concessions and the threat of cutting off US aid.

At the same time, in an interview with "Time" magazine, he stated that he would "try and help Ukraine" on the condition that Europe would do so equally.
