CNN highlights that two high-ranking administration positions will be held by supporters of a hardline stance on immigration: Stephen Miller and Tom Homan. This indicates that Trump intends to uphold his promises in this area. Vice President-elect J.D. Vance announced that Miller will serve as the deputy chief of staff at the White House under Susie Wiles.
Meanwhile, Homan, the former head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), will, according to Trump himself, become the "border czar."
During Trump's previous term (from 2017 to 2021), the Department of Homeland Security experienced numerous upheavals, having five consecutive heads, of whom only two received Senate approval, CNN notes. With a budget of 60 billion USD, the department employs thousands of staff members.
