On 28 October 2023, the world was stunned by the news of Matthew Perry's death. The actor was found unconscious at his Los Angeles residence, having drowned in his swimming pool. Was it a heart attack? A suicide? Upon examination, it was discovered that his bloodstream contained several substances he was believed to have given up long ago, including ketamine.

Grief struck his loved ones and millions of people worldwide. The series "Friends" is a shared experience for a generation of viewers who adored the character of Chandler, played by the late actor. His ongoing battle with personal demons was well-known: addiction to alcohol, drugs, and painkillers. Ultimately, he succumbed to these struggles.

Suzanne Morrison, Matthew's mother, disclosed in an interview with the "Today" programme what her son expressed to her shortly before his death:

"He came up to me and he said, 'I love you so much, and I'm so happy to be with you now,'" she recounted, adding, "It was almost as though it was a premonition or something. I didn’t think about it at the time, but I thought, ‘How long has it been since we’ve had a conversation like that?’ It’s been years.'"

Investigation into Matthew Perry's death

About Matthew Perry's death, the trial date for two individuals accused of unlawfully supplying ketamine to the actor has been set for 4 March 2025. Among the accused are Jasveen Sangha, the 'Queen of Ketamine,' and Dr Salvador Plasencia. The accused deny the charges.

Jasveen Sangha, a 41-year-old alleged drug dealer, faces charges related to distributing ketamine to the actor in the weeks preceding his death in October 2023. Sangha, notoriously known in North Hollywood as a celebrity dealer, reportedly led a lavish lifestyle flaunted on Instagram, allegedly funded by drug trafficking, showcasing holidays in Mexico and Japan along with her opulent lifestyle.

The case of Matthew Perry's death has unravelled a complicated web of connections. Besides Sangha, Erik Fleming and three other accomplices, including the assistant to the "Friends" star and two doctors responsible for distributing ketamine, were also charged. Among the accused, Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry's former assistant, and Fleming admitted guilt, confessing their role in supplying Perry with multiple doses of the drug in his final days. Doctors who prescribed potent medication to the actor were also taken into custody.
