Tragic train derailment in Norway: Landslide claims one life
On Thursday, 24th October, a train derailed along the northern coast of Norway. At least one person lost their life, and several others were injured. There were at least 50 people on board.

Police spokesman Kenneth Lauritsen confirmed that one person died due to the derailment. Between five and six people were injured. Earlier, the police informed the Norwegian news agency NTB that individuals with minor injuries were at the scene.
The derailment occurred at approximately 12:00 GMT. The police reported that a landslide was likely the cause. The newspaper VG published a picture showing a huge rock on the tracks that struck a train carriage.
The train was travelling from Trondheim to the northern town of Bodo. NTB, citing the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre for Northern Norway, stated there were "between 50 and 70 people on board the train."
We think all the passengers are out. But we are doublechecking the train as we do not have a passe - said police spokesman Bent Are Eilertsen to Norwegian television TV 2.
One of the passengers, Ingvart Strand Molster, said, "a rock has hit the train."

A witness to the incident added that no one in his carriage was injured except for one person who suffered a minor ankle injury. Another passenger told a local newspaper that people were evacuated through the windows.
Norwegian media pictures show the locomotive and at least two passenger carriages. The derailment occurred near Bodo, just north of the Arctic Circle.
