Tragic accident in Berlin: Woman killed, child critical after train fall
On Wednesday, 22nd May, at the main station in Berlin, a woman and a child fell under an ICE train. The woman died, and her child is fighting for life. The station in Germany was completely closed.
According to the police report, the woman and child stepped off the platform and were hit by an oncoming long-distance ICE train. The Berlin fire department announced that from 11:30 AM on the scene, there was a large contingent of emergency services after the "tragic accident."
One person was hit by the train and died on the spot. Another person was seriously injured. We are also taking care of other people - the fire department announced.
The woman died on the spot, and the child was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital by a rescue helicopter. The child is currently in the intensive care unit, and doctors are fighting for their life.
According to the spokeswoman for the federal police, the Berlin state police have launched a death investigation. It cannot be ruled out that the incident was a suicide.
