Tragedy in Saxony: Body of missing 9‑year-old Valeria found

A search was conducted in Saxony, Germany, for nine-year-old Valeria for over a week. On 12 June, the police confirmed that the girl's body was found in a forest near Döbeln, Germany. The police chief admitted that a witness came forward during the search—a woman who heard a scream.
Valeria, a 9-year-old resident of Döbeln, left for school on Monday at 6:50 AM. She was supposed to take a bus to school, but it is uncertain if she boarded it. It is known that she did not attend her classes. Teachers did not inform the parents of her absence.
When the girl did not return home after classes, concerned parents reported her missing to the police. The search started immediately in Döbeln and its vicinity. The police involved residents, asking them to check their basements and gardens.
On 12 June, the police confirmed that the girl's body was found in a forest near Döbeln, Germany. As stated by police chief Carsten Kaempf at a press conference, Valeria was a victim of a crime.
The girl was murdered in Germany. The authorities interviewed approximately 400 citizens and also checked all sexual offenders at risk of reoffending.
