Toronto in shock: Model citizen turns serial killer suspect

Kauldhar grew up in a wealthy family and led a stable and peaceful life. She was the daughter of two dentists, and her schoolmates remember her as an outstanding student and a great athlete.

She was a straight-A student and very active in sports, played high-level hockey and did figure skating when she was young, says one of Kauldhar's former friends in an interview with the "Toronto Sun."

However, he added that she went down a "bad path." Kauldhar began to ask him for money, and when he refused, their contact ended.

Surveillance footage and the suspect's change in appearance

The investigation revealed that surveillance footage shows Kauldhar near the scene of one of the murders. She has gained significant weight, has a distinctive nose piercing, and bears a tattoo on her forehead depicting a triangle, the symbol associated with the Eye of Providence and the Hindu goddess Lakshmi. Her hair is covered with a patka, a type of cloth traditionally worn by boys from Sikh families, to which she likely belongs.

Series of murders over three days

The series of murders began on 1st October. In the afternoon in Toronto, the body of a woman around 60 years old, who was connected to Kauldhar, was found. The perpetrator disappeared from the crime scene and, the next day, appeared in Niagara Falls, about 100 kilometres away, where she fatally stabbed Lance Cunningham, a 47-year-old man who was a random victim. The third murder occurred the following day in Hamilton, where Kauldhar stabbed 77-year-old Mario Billich.

Arrest and charge for serial murders

Kauldhar was arrested on 4th October in Burlington by Lake Ontario. The police charged her with murder and manslaughter. Bill Fordy, the police chief, confirmed that Kauldhar is being treated as a serial killer. Although her first victim had some connection to her, the other victims, Cunningham and Billich, were random targets.

Ongoing investigation: Many questions remain unanswered

More than 100 investigators have been involved in the case, but the motive for the crimes remains unknown.

During her arrest, Kauldhar had clothes with her that were purchased the day before by another unidentified woman at one of the discount stores. Police investigated to determine the identity of this woman, whose image was captured by cameras. It was unclear whether she was Kauldhar's accomplice or perhaps her next fourth victim. Ultimately, she was identified thanks to the detectives' work, but her role in the story has not yet been publicly disclosed.

The case of Sabrina Kauldhar has shaken the Toronto community and Canada, and many questions remain unanswered. The investigation continues, and new, shocking facts may yet come to light.
