Air travel can be exciting and somewhat stressful, and comfort and safety are paramount for passengers. Popular online flight attendant Tommy explains on TikTok why we shouldn't travel by plane in shorts or sleep resting against the window.

Tiktoker Tommy, known as @tommycimato, primarily warns against sleeping with your head resting against the airplane window. According to him, it is a matter of hygiene—we do not know how many people have previously had contact with the window surface, making such practice unhygienic.

According to his recommendations, it is much safer to avoid direct contact with the airplane wall while resting.

Watch out for airplane toilets

Another aspect the flight attendant highlights is using a tissue or napkin when flushing the airplane toilet. He emphasizes that the buttons and levers of the flush are heavily contaminated with bacteria, so contact with them should be minimised.

Tommy also recommends drinking water during the flight and highlights the importance of staying hydrated. He suggests consuming about 450 millilitres of water per flight to maintain health and well-being during travel.

The Tiktoker also discusses clothing, advising against wearing shorts. Just like sleeping with your head against the window, wearing long trousers can reduce the risk of contact with bacteria.

It's worth reporting feeling unwell to flight attendants

Finally, he reminds passengers of the role of flight attendants as support during the flight. He emphasises that the cabin crew are ready to help in case of feeling unwell, offering food, water, or a sickness bag. He asserts that passengers should not hesitate to ask for help.

These practical tips will make air travel more comfortable and safe for many people.
