The couple, who had been raising the boy for three years, learned that they are not his biological parents. The truth emerged thanks to genetic tests conducted due to growing doubts.
Yasmin Kessii da Silva's partner, the boy's mother, noticed a lack of physical resemblance between him and the child, which aroused his suspicions. This prompted the couple to undergo DNA testing, the results of which were shocking. It turned out that neither Yasmin nor her partner are the boy's biological parents.
Parents took home someone else's child from the hospital
According to information, the child swap occurred at the hospital in Inhumas in 2021, when Yasmin gave birth around the same time as another woman, Isamara Cristina Mendanha. Due to pandemic restrictions in effect at the time, companions were not allowed access to delivery rooms, which may have contributed to the mistake.
Isamara, the mother of the other child, later admitted that she did not pay particular attention to the newborn's identification. She stated that she and her husband were convinced they were taking home their own son after birth, so she did not notice whether the child had an identification bracelet.
The police launched an investigation into the matter, examining possible fault and responsibility for the child swap. The hospital in Inhumas assured that it is cooperating with law enforcement, providing all necessary documentation. The investigation aims to determine how the child swap occurred and who is responsible for this dramatic error.
