Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were known as "The Splash Brothers". Together, they secured four NBA championships for the Golden State Warriors. Thompson recently changed teams, and before leaving California, he had a special request for his friend.

This news shocked fans in the United States. Klay Thompson is moving to the Dallas Mavericks, where he will sign a three-year contract worth 50 million dollars. The entire transaction will be based on a trade. The Texas team will send Josh Green to the Charlotte Hornets and two second-round picks to the Warriors.

This marks the end of the legendary "Splash Brothers" duo. Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry won a total of four NBA championships for the Golden State Warriors.

I will miss you, Klay. Even if we didn’t finish our adventure together, what we did will never be replicated. I could not imagine a better streak than with you and Draymond. We changed the entire Bay Area. We changed how this game is played. 'Killa Klay’ was at the centre of that. Thank you for everything, brother - wrote Curry.

There had been talks about Thompson leaving for some time. As highlighted by "The Athletic", Thompson spoke with Curry and asked the main playmaker not to pressure the Warriors' office to re-sign him.

It was a five-year journey to a split that fell apart last season, sprouted earlier and ended in the last few weeks - we read in the media.

Star's decline in form

It is worth noting that Klay Thompson is not the same player he was several years ago before tearing his ACL and Achilles tendon.

In the eight seasons before his injuries, he shot 45.9 percent from the field and 41.9 percent from three-point range, but in the last three seasons, he shot only 43.3 percent and 39.7 percent, respectively.
