The sorrowful confession: Court hears father's tragic letter

The father of the brutally abused girl, Sara Sharif, appeared before a British court. Previously, he had admitted to murdering her and fled to Pakistan with his partner and the girl's uncle. It has emerged that a letter was discovered by the police beneath the pillow on which her body was found. The pages on which it was written, along with its content, were presented in court.

The tragic fate of the ten-year-old from the United Kingdom captured global attention. The case came to light after the police discovered the girl's body in a house in August 2023.

Shortly after fleeing to Pakistan, the 42-year-old father, Urfan Sharif, reported the matter. He fled the UK accompanied by his partner and relative. The entire trio was brought before a British court.

The man confessed to the murder to the emergency operator, stating that he killed his daughter as a punishment. When asked for more details, he explained: "She was misbehaving, I beat her. I didn't intend to kill her, but I beat her too much."

The police have now revealed a letter found beneath the girl's pillow. It is a handwritten note in which Sara Sharif's father admits to killing his 10-year-old daughter "by beating." The text was shown to the jury.

On the first page, the father wrote: "I love you, Sara," and on the second: "Whoever finds this note, it was I, Urfan Sharif, who killed my daughter by beating. I am fleeing out of fear, but I promise to turn myself in to the police and face the punishment."

I swear to God, it was not my intention to kill her, but I lost control. My daughter is a Muslim. Can you bury her according to tradition? — the father of Sara requests in the letter.
