The brutal murder of Russian Instagram star: A tragic tale of envy and revenge

Investigators claim that the 24-year-old was murdered during the night of July 22-23, 2019, in the apartment she was renting. A neighbour told reporters she heard screams.

The girl's body was discovered only after several days. The naked body was packed in a suitcase. She had died from 19 stab wounds, sustaining injuries to her neck and wounds on her chest.

33-year-old IT specialist Maxim Gareev confessed to the brutal murder. He also stated that he paid Katerina for their nights together. Nevertheless, the woman cruelly mocked him.

On the ill-fated day, she was reportedly joking about his bedroom skills. Apparently, she also mocked his earnings, allegedly saying he would only earn enough for their next meeting in a year.

Perhaps Maxim was also jealous of her acquaintance with a wealthy 52-year-old friend.
