On Sunday, Tesco announced the earlier closure of its Express stores in England to allow employees to watch the Euro 2024 final following the England team's victory in the semi-final against the Netherlands.

The largest retail chain in the UK announced that over 1800 Express stores will close from 19:30, instead of the usual closing hours of 22:00 or 23:00. This is to allow employees to get home or to the pub in time for the start of the England match.

Salary remains unchanged

In a statement, Tesco said this change would allow thousands of employees to reach home or the pub on time while still receiving regular pay for those hours. Employees who do not wish to watch the match will also receive their salary according to the regular schedule.

After the victory over the Netherlands on Wednesday, the England team will face Spain in Berlin at 20:00 on Sunday, vying for a chance to win the first major tournament for the men's England team since the World Cup in 1966. This is the second consecutive European Championship final for the English. Three years ago, they lost in a penalty shootout to the Italian team. Will you support them this time?
