Terrifier 3 to hit cinemas: From indie roots to box office success
The horror film series Terrifier is a prime example of achieving the American dream in the USA. The first two parts of the series were amateur productions created by young individuals, which not only earned the creators a substantial amount of money but also enabled them to produce more professional films.

The third instalment of the bloody horror series will be released in cinemas on 11 October. The film's budget was £1.5 million. Compared to Hollywood standards, this is a modest amount, but it's worth noting that the first part of "Terrifier," which premiered in 2016, cost just a few thousand pounds. It was made with the creators' savings by amateurs and film enthusiasts. The horror film was showcased at numerous independent film festivals, attracting investors. The second part of the film cost around £200,000.
In 2022, "Terrifier 2: Holiday Massacre" was released theatrically in the United States, causing quite a stir in cinemas. As critics wrote, "It literally makes your stomach turn." Many viewers were unable to watch the horror film until the end and left the cinema before the screening was over. Some only managed to escape to the theatre lobby, where they collapsed, half-conscious, onto a chair. Social media accounts indicated that in some instances, theatre staff had to call emergency medical services.
Such situations did not discourage viewers from watching the film. On the contrary, they served as excellent and effective advertising. The horror film earned £12 million in American cinemas. Thus, the clown Art has already entered the pantheon of pop culture villains.
Who is the clown Art?
What sets Art apart is that he is a mime. He doesn't make a sound – not even when someone hits him. He constantly makes different faces and teases his victims, which may surprise viewers with its simplicity. But that's only until he starts killing when he transforms into a true beast. The human body becomes a field for shocking experiments.
Although the film will debut in October, it fits the Christmas mood like the previous part. "In the third installment of Damien Leone’s breakout horror film, Art the Clown is set to unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve," reads the film's description.
