Tense showdown: Trump and biden trade accusations amidst violence claims
The Republican candidate for president, Donald Trump, is once again at the centre of attention after another assasination attempt, reports the BBC. Trump and JD Vance, who is running for vice president, blame their Democratic opponents for using language that they believe incites violence.
Mutual accusations of inappropriate language use are being made on both sides of the political dispute. Both Republicans and Democrats criticise each other for aggressive rhetoric, particularly on social media, which reaches millions of Americans. Utilizing the platform Truth Social, Trump frequently attacks Democrats in an unrefined manner, reports the BBC.
In his speeches, the former US president continues his personal attacks on President Joe Biden and warns about the influx of migrants at the southern border, which he claims threatens American cities.
Biden has recently changed the tone of his statements, warning about the danger to the country should Trump return to power.
Trump vs. Harris. Mutual accusations
According to the BBC, after his poor debate three months ago, Biden is said to have told donors in private that "it's time to put Trump in a bullseye". A few days later, Trump was shot at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Although Biden called his earlier words a "mistake", he dismissed Republican accusations of inciting violence.
After the attempt in Butler, Trump announced that he would change the tone of his speech at the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin. However, it quickly transformed into accusations of alleged wrongdoings he faced from opponents.
Shortly after the convention, Harris' speech also included criticism of Trump, although her tone was somewhat lighter.
At a rally in North Carolina, Trump called Harris a "radical left lunatic who will destroy our country". On the other hand, during the Democratic convention, Harris criticised Trump for his actions during the January 6 riots and other controversial decisions. During a debate in Philadelphia, Harris and Trump exchanged attacks, including accusations of critical judgment of political events.
In the weeks leading up to the election, Trump continued his attacks, calling the Democrats hypocrites, while the Democrats sharply criticise his policies. The situation has become tense, with both sides fighting for votes and control of the electoral narrative.
