Stellantis halts operations in France and UK amid supplier strike
Three Stellantis factories located in France and the British Isles had to temporarily halt their operations due to a strike at one of their subcontractors. This labor dispute emerged over contentious plans that did not sit well with the workers.
The subcontractor at the heart of this issue is MA France, a branch of the CLN group known for its production of pressed metal components.
Located on the outskirts of Paris, MA France came into the spotlight when its workers decided to strike after learning about purported plans to relocate production to Poland. Brahim Aitathmane, head of the Force Ouvriere union at Stellantis, shared these details with "Automotive News Europe".
This industrial action has severely disrupted operations at three Stellantis sites due to a shortage of necessary components. The affected factories are located in Poissy and Hordain in France, and Luton in the UK.
"Production at these three plants has been on hold since the start of the week," a spokesperson for Stellantis reported on Thursday.
As of now, talks are in progress with hopes to resolve the situation swiftly. The exact timeline for when production will restart, however, remains uncertain.
