Spanish soldier's tragic demise in NATO exercises stirs national grief
A Spanish soldier has died during the international Steadfast Defender 24 manoeuvres in Poland. This event has prompted the Prime Minister of Spain to extend condolences to the family of the deceased.

The Spanish Land Forces announced the passing of Corporal B.G.P.A., a member of the Ceuta 54 Expeditionary Group, during the planning stages of the exercise Saber Strike 2024 at Bemowo Piskie Range, stating the incident occurred amid tactical exercises involving live ammunition.
The Saber Strike exercises began in early April 2024 and are a component of the larger Defender 24 exercises. These exercises have seen the participation of 40,000 troops from 13 NATO member countries.
My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of the Spanish corporal who tragically lost his life today in an accident in Poland during NATO manoeuvres. May he rest in peace, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed in a message.
According to El Independiente, the deceased soldier was originally from Ecuador and was 43 years old.
