Queen is about to close a record-breaking deal! Sources from "Variety" confirm that the band's music catalogue and a range of other rights are being acquired by Sony Music. A colossal amount of money is at stake.

The transfer of rights to the works of famous artists can reach staggering sums. In 2021, Bruce Springsteen sold his catalogue to Sony for approximately £385 million.

But that's nothing compared to what Queen is about to get. The legendary band will surpass everyone.

"Variety" reports that the band Queen has already struck a deal with Sony Music. It concerns the sale of rights to their catalogue for £978 million.

Of course, it's no surprise that the legendary band negotiated such an amount. The 2018 movie "Bohemian Rhapsody" earned over £694 million worldwide alone.

So far, Sony Music representatives have not commented on media reports. However, this is not unusual. The giant rarely comments on its moves.

The death of Freddie Mercury was a huge blow

The death of Freddie Mercury was a massive blow to the band Queen. This event in 1991 interrupted the group's remarkable career. However, today, Queen is still touring with Adam Lambert.

Queen has numerous successes to its name. The group has sold over 300 million records. The 1981 compilation "The Greatest Hits" is among the best-selling albums ever. The estimated circulation has surpassed 25 million copies.
