Serbian president Vučić sets realistic expectations on EU membership
"It's not going to happen (EU membership), I don't lie to my people," said Serbia's President, Aleksandar Vučić, about imminent membership in the Community. He added that Serbia is aware that it will not become part of the EU until it aligns its foreign policy.

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, expressed doubt on Saturday about whether his country will soon join the European Union. He assessed that the differences in many matters are currently too significant.
"I don't believe we are going to be a part of the European Union in 2028," said Vučić, explaining that this concerns relations with Russia and the issue of Kosovo's independence. He also admitted that his country has a lot of work ahead, for example, in matters of the judiciary.
"I don't lie to my people," said Vučić about the prospect of imminent membership in the Community.
In his opinion, EU countries currently have different interests than Serbia. He emphasized that the most important thing for the Serbian authorities is improving the living conditions of their citizens.
Participating with Vučić in the debate at the Globsec conference, the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, stated that his country is much better prepared to join the EU than Serbia. He declared that Montenegro's integration with the EU could happen in 2028.
