League D is the lowest tier of these competitions, where the weakest national teams of Europe compete. Before the competition began, San Marino was considered to be significantly weaker than the teams from Liechtenstein and Gibraltar.

The performance of the players from this small principality has impressed fans worldwide. Coach Roberto Cevoli's players have participated in three matches in this competition so far. First, they won 1-0 against Liechtenstein, then lost 0-1 to Gibraltar.

Historic success for San Marino. Euphoria on social media

Yesterday, they achieved a result that opened the door to incredible success for them. San Marino astonishingly drew 1-1 with Gibraltar, securing a goal in the 92nd minute. They now have four points in the competition. Such a promising start is unprecedented for this team.

The goal for San Marino's team was met with overwhelming euphoria on social media.

But that's not all. Widely regarded as the worst national team in the world, San Marino is just one step away from advancing to League C of the Nations League. The players from this small principality must defeat Liechtenstein to achieve this remarkable success.

A victory would see the "Titans" (the team's nickname) take first place in their League D group, securing their promotion. The scale of this success is underscored by the fact that San Marino has only won twice in international competitions so far - both victories were against Liechtenstein.

The San Marino vs. Liechtenstein match will be held on Monday (18 November) at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time.
