Salma Hayek, star of "Frida," shared her thoughts on finance and independence in an interview with "WSJ. Magazine." "I support a lot of the aspects of my life and myself. I have the pressure to make a certain amount of money, and I like it. And now, I decided, I want to make more."
The 58-year-old actress revealed that she and her 62-year-old husband, François-Henri Pinault, do not have a prenuptial agreement and manage their finances separately. The French businessman admires his wife for her independence, stating, "I think he finds it kind of sexy," said the star. Hayek and Pinault have a daughter, 17-year-old Valentina. The actress also revealed that she is considering several ideas for joint projects with the teenager.
Hayek knows what poverty means
According to PageSix, Hayek was born into a wealthy family. Her father was an oil industry director. When Salma was 20 years old, the family lost their fortune. The Mexican actress then moved to Los Angeles and became the family's breadwinner. "That's when I became the best version of myself," she admitted.
After marrying Pinault, the CEO of the luxury group Kering, Hayek noticed that people around her mainly wanted to talk about money. "To me, the excitement about having a lot of money was that I didn’t have to think about money, and it turned out all people wanted to talk to me about was money," she said.
The star also noticed that other wealthy people wanted to befriend her just because of her wealth. "Strangers coming to me that aren’t even friends, but they think we should be friends because they’re rich too," she stated.
