The Russian Volunteer Corps and the "Free Russia" Legion are paramilitary groups formed in 2022, shortly after Russia's full invasion of Ukraine. They are made up of Russians opposed to their government, seeking to free the country from what they see as Putin's dictatorship.

On Tuesday morning (March 12), Russian units allied with Ukraine attacked border towns in western Russia, claiming to have captured two towns - Tetkino in the Kursk region and Lozova Ruda in the Belgorod region.

There is a threat to military units in the territories of the Kursk and Belgorod regions. We call for evacuation - now say representatives from the "Free Russia" Legion.

Fighting for Russia and Ukraine

According to a volunteer, legion fighters target military facilities using drones. Their actions are primarily justified by the ongoing war in Ukraine, which has led to the deaths of many innocent people.

Putin's forces launch widespread attacks on Ukrainian cities, positioning themselves near residential buildings, schools, and government buildings. As a result, every day sees the deaths of dozens of innocent people, predominantly women and children, particularly from the Belgorod area - say soldiers from the "Freedom of Russia" Legion, the Russian Volunteer Corps, and the Siberian Battalion in a joint statement on Telegram.

On the evening of March 13, the "Freedom of Russia" Legion announced that Russian volunteer soldiers were clashing with the regular Russian Federation army in five settlements in the Belgorod region.
