Russian nuclear threat: Redzikowo base in crosshairs
The Russians have modified their nuclear weapons usage doctrine in response to the permission granted to Ukraine to launch missiles from the USA onto the aggressor's territory. The list of potential targets includes, among others, the missile defence base in Poland. "I would be surprised if it was not on the priority list", commented Gen. Polko in a conversation with "Fakt".

Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, informed that the American missile defence base in Redzikowo, Poland, is a potential target for a nuclear weapon attack from Russia. From the Kremlin's perspective, it is a threat and undermines the current "strategic stability." Although it is strictly defensive in nature, the Russians regard it as an element of the United States' projection of power in the region. They describe the construction of the base as a provocation.
The purpose of the base in Redzikowo is to combat ballistic missiles that may be launched by aggressor countries, primarily Iran. The completion of the base is one of the final steps in the longstanding American programme called the European Phased Adaptive Approach. Its goal is to enhance the defensive capability of NATO countries in the face of missile attack threats.
The base in Redzikowo in Russia's sights. General Polko comments
General Roman Polko, former commander of the Polish "GROM" unit, comments on Zakharova's words in a conversation with "Fakt". In his opinion, this is another attempt to intimidate Western countries with the threat of nuclear escalation.
This information is now being used to spread fear. Also, today’s Russian attack with a ballistic missile (on Thursday, 21 November, there was an explosion of an intercontinental missile in Dnipro) which is indeed intended for carrying nuclear warheads — these are all elements of Russia's strong campaign aimed at making the West afraid and negotiate peace under the pressure of Russia’s power, and not under its own power - Polko believes.
The General points out that Russia's actions are aimed at making Europe stop supporting Ukraine out of fear. Polko adds that facilities such as the base in Redzikowo are additionally protected against various aggressive activities from the opponent. He mentions, among others, layers of air defence.
Such facilities have great significance and are targets. But precisely for the same reason, they are much better protected than others - Polko claims.
It is no wonder that such facilities are in Russia's sights. The Kremlin will do everything to weaken the opponent's potential — not only military but also economic. Therefore, Baltic ports are also under protection.
