Russian deputy Defence Minister arrested on bribery charges
Russian Deputy Defence Minister Timur Vladimirovich Ivanov has been arrested. He is suspected of corruption, according to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

The press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation on Telegram informed that Russian Deputy Minister of Defence Timur Vladimirovich Ivanov was arrested on suspicion of committing a crime under Article 6, paragraph 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (acceptance of a bribe).
As reported by the Moscow Times, Ivanov faces up to 15 years in prison.
Who is Timur Ivanov?
Born in 1975 in Moscow, Ivanov began his professional career in the Russian energy sector, later being promoted by Sergei Shoigu.
When Shoigu became the governor of the Moscow region in 2012, Ivanov was appointed his deputy. Later, in 2016, he was appointed deputy minister of defence.
As of October 2022, he is under sanctions by the European Union.
