Russia dismisses swiss peace talks on Ukraine as 'Invalid'
Russia has announced that it will not recognize the results of the talks to be held during the June conference dedicated to Ukraine, which will take place in Switzerland. "Clearly, the outcome of this get-together will be null and void: peace talks are never held with just one party to the conflict," claims Dmitry Medvedev.
Much of the information regarding alleged attacks and aggression from the Ukrainian side, as reported by Russian and Belarusian media, is likely not true. Such reports may be an element of an information war by the Russian Federation.
"Whatever decisions come out of the conference on Ukraine, which the Swiss authorities plan to hold on June 15-16 at the Burgenstock Resort, will be 'null and void,'" said - quoted by the Kremlin news agency TASS - on Tuesday, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev.
Peace conference in Switzerland
The Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs has invited over 160 delegations to the conference concerning Ukraine, including from G7, G20, and BRICS countries.
Russia has not yet received an invitation. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced simultaneously that it does not intend to participate. Furthermore, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it does not intend to participate in the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland or any other events related to the 'peace formula' of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Sergey Lavrov, the head of Russian diplomacy, also commented on the conference. He noted that this conference is a "road to nowhere" and that Moscow does not see any willingness from the West to engage in an honest dialogue.
The Swiss initiative is another attempt to develop peaceful solutions to the war in Ukraine.
