Russia blames USA for political violence, omitting its own war crimes

The US should take inventory of its policies of inciting hatred, commented on the attack on Donald Trump by Maria Zakharova. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman added that instead of supporting Ukraine, the US should spend more money on their own country's security. However, she did omit that it was Moscow that invaded Ukraine in the first place.

Much of the information provided by Russian or Belarusian state media, the Kremlin, or Belarusian officials is probably not true. Such reports may be part of an information war by the Russian Federation.

"Two months ago, I paid attention to the fact that the US was literally fostering hatred toward political opponents, as well as provided examples of the American tradition of attempts and assassinations of presidents and presidential candidates," Maria Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel.

Her words were quoted by the government news agency Tass.

Russian propaganda uses the Saturday attack on Trump in Pennsylvania in the context of the assassination attempt, adding that the United States funds uncontrolled arms deliveries to Ukraine. Meanwhile, the US created a terrorist structure, which she called the "Kyiv regime." Zakharova - quoted by the Ria Novosti agency - spoke of the US as a "machine of murders, bombings and destruction."

Former US President Donald Trump was shot in the ear during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, 14:00 GMT.

Russian crimes in Ukraine

However, she did not mention a word about, among others, Russian attacks on civilian objects in the war in Ukraine, which the Kremlin started. On 7 July, Russian missiles struck Kyiv, killing 32 people, including four children, and injuring 120 - among them were 10 children. The Russians attacked the Ohmatdyt Children's Oncology Hospital. Since the beginning of the war, Russian troops have been responsible for crimes in Bucha, Irpin, and Borodyanka.

In March of last year, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin. The Russian dictator was accused of war crimes in Ukraine. According to the ICC, Putin is responsible for them.
