Note! Many reports about alleged attacks and aggression from the Ukrainian side, as well as the course of the war, provided by Russian and Belarusian state media, are likely not true. Such reports may be part of the information warfare by the Russian Federation.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, and the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, held a telephone conversation during which they decided to maintain regular communication. The purpose of this initiative is to prepare for the forthcoming high-level meeting between Russia and the USA. This information was conveyed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow.

In the communication from the Russian ministry, it was emphasised that Lavrov and Rubio expressed their willingness to collaborate on restoring inter-state dialogue based on mutual respect. Both politicians agreed to keep communication channels open, which is expected to aid in resolving issues in Russian-American relations.

International challenges

The Russian Foreign Ministry also noted that both parties are inclined to cooperate on international matters.

The topics discussed included the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East. The American side has not yet issued an official statement about this conversation.

The decision for regular contact between Lavrov and Rubio is an important step towards improving relations between Russia and the USA, which have been tense in recent years.
