Legendary Roy Jones Jr, one of the greatest boxers in history, announced that his son DeAndre has died. Late on Monday evening, the boxer issued a statement asking for respect for his family's privacy during this difficult time.

Roy Jones Jr revealed that his son committed suicide. It is not known what led him to take this step.

Unfortunately, my son DeAndre took his own life on Saturday - wrote Jones Jr on social media. - I am very grateful to God that He allowed me to return home on Friday evening, so I could spend the last evening of his life with my son and family. I know many people are going through tough times right now, but nothing is worth taking your life. God gives it, and God should be the one to take it - he added.

Jones asked fans to "respect his family's privacy" until everyone recovers from the terrible tragedy. Thirty-two-year-old DeAndre was one of Jones Jr's three sons.

Roy Jones Jr is one of the greatest boxers in history. He won the world championships in four weight categories: middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight. As a professional boxer, he fought 76 bouts, winning 66, with 47 by knockout, and losing 10. He was known for his unique, spectacular style.

He ended his career in 2018 but returned to the ring two years later. In an exhibition fight, he faced Mike Tyson. The boxers fought under exhibition fight rules. Eight rounds of two minutes each were contracted. The fight was not officially scored, so no winner was announced. The proceeds from the bout were donated to charity.
