This tourist path is emerging in Ronda, perched atop the gorge, which plunges 99 meters deep. The scenic canyon has long been a magnet for visitors, but city authorities have revealed that the famed gorge will soon be accessible from an entirely fresh viewpoint.
A new perspective on the Puente Nuevo bridge
The venture started by upgrading an existing trail skirting the edge of the Puente Nuevo bridge to ensure safety.
Renovations have also rejuvenated an almost 400-meter-long pathway with viewing spots, offering a novel vantage point of the Puente Nuevo. Visitors can explore this path starting Saturday, April 13th, with an entry fee of 5 euros.
Exploring the Ronda gorge's depths
The following phase focuses on crafting a new path at the gorge's base, tracing the Guadalevín River.
Furthermore, constructing a hanging platform will enable guests to traverse the gorge from above. Renowned Spanish architect Luis Machuc, known for designing the Caminito del Rey's suspended walkway in Malaga, close to the El Chorro gorge about 50 kilometers north of Ronda, contributes to this thrilling project.
The completion timeline for this project remains uncertain at this time.
