Rockets and airstrikes: Israel and Hezbollah's intensifying clash
Israel and Lebanon are once again caught in conflict. Hezbollah, a Shia organisation based in Lebanon, launched approximately 190 rockets towards Israel on Monday. This attack resulted in at least 12 people being injured, including those in Haifa. In retaliation, Israel conducted airstrikes on key Hezbollah targets in Beirut and southern Lebanon, according to the Israeli military.

Approximately 190 rockets were launched by Hezbollah on Monday towards Israel. The shelling impacted areas, including Haifa, leaving at least 12 people injured.
On the same day, the Israeli armed forces announced airstrikes on "terrorist facilities belonging to the Hezbollah intelligence headquarters" in Beirut and other targets in southern Lebanon. According to CNN, half an hour after an evacuation order was issued for some areas in the suburbs of Beirut, explosions illuminated the sky over the city.
Anniversary of the bloody Hamas attack
October 7 marked one year since one of the bloodiest attacks by Palestinian Hamas on Israel, during which 1,200 people were killed and another 250 were taken hostage.
This attack was a catalyst for the escalation of Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip, as well as in Lebanon, where Israel has been conducting a ground operation against Hezbollah militants for a week.
Victims of the conflict
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that since the Israeli airstrikes began, approximately 2,000 people have died, most within the last few weeks. They added that the number of victims continues to rise.
Since October 7, 2023, there have also been significant losses on the Israeli side in clashes occurring in Israel, the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and the West Bank. "728 soldiers have been killed," the Israeli army reported on Monday. In response to the actions of Hamas and Hezbollah fighters, Israeli forces have killed about 19,000 members of these organisations.
The conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah has persisted for decades. Since the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip a year ago, the escalation of military actions has resulted in further casualties and destruction. Hezbollah regularly shells northern Israel, prompting immediate responses in the form of Israeli air and ground counterattacks.
