Rice paper is mainly associated with spring rolls and summer rolls, but it can also be used in the kitchen to prepare a delicious dessert. Although it sounds improbable because croissants are usually associated with puff pastry, it really works.

Rice paper croissants

This trend is taking over international TikTok accounts, so we had to try it out in the kitchen at Pyszności as well. Although the idea might seem a bit strange, the recipe for rice paper croissants has won the hearts of many internet users and has made a sensation among us too.

They are perfect for busy people who don’t have the time for complicated baking. Although the recipe for rice paper croissants is simple and quick, it's worth remembering that the taste of such a croissant will be significantly different from the traditional one. Rice paper gives the dish a slightly different texture and taste. If you like to experiment in the kitchen and are looking for new culinary experiences, this rice paper croissant recipe will definitely appeal to you.

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs,
  • 80 ml of milk,
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar,
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract,
  • 1 tablespoon of melted butter,
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon,
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder,
  • 6 sheets of rice paper,
  • sugar for sprinkling.

Instructions:

Step 1. Crack the eggs into a deep plate, add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Add the cinnamon, baking powder, and sugar, and mix.

Step 2. Dip the sheets of rice paper into the mixture on both sides. Lay them out three at a time and cut them into three triangles.

Step 3. Stack them as shown in the video or in the photo below and roll them to form a croissant.

Step 4. Place the croissants on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with sugar and almonds, and place in an oven preheated to 175°C for 25 minutes. The ready croissants can be served with jam or chocolate. Enjoy!
