Moreover, it can be made quickly, so there's no excuse for a dinner without slaw today. To make it even tastier, it's worth adding the crunchy addition of pumpkin seeds. They not only enhance the flavour but also provide extra nutrients for the body.

When we think of traditional dinners, cabbage slaw is often one of the key components. Its crunchy texture and slightly sour taste perfectly complement many dishes. Typically, we combine it with carrots and apples, but there are countless other variations of this dish. Today’s suggestion includes an unexpected addition that will completely change its character.

Pumpkin seeds are not only a crunchy addition to many dishes but also a true treasure trove of nutrients. They are a good source of B vitamins, vitamin E, and vitamin K. These vitamins play a crucial role in many processes in the body, such as blood clotting, strengthening the nervous system, and protecting against free radicals.

They are rich in magnesium, zinc, iron, and phosphorus, essential for the proper functioning of the body. They also contain healthy unsaturated fats, such as omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which have a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system.

Ingredients:

  • Half a head of cabbage
  • 2 carrots
  • Half a bunch of chives
  • 2-3 tablespoons of pumpkin seeds
  • Salt, pepper, sugar to taste
  • 2-3 tablespoons of oil

Preparation:

  1. Wash the cabbage, remove the outer leaves, finely chop it, and transfer it to a bowl.
  2. Add salt and sugar, and let it sit for a few minutes. This will allow the cabbage to release juices and soften.
  3. Toast the pumpkin seeds in a dry frying pan. They should be lightly browned but not burned.
  4. Add finely chopped chives, coarsely grated carrot, and toasted pumpkin seeds to the chopped cabbage.
  5. Add oil, and season to taste with pepper.
  6. Mix thoroughly.

Serve the ready cabbage slaw with dinner. It's so delicious that no one needs to be persuaded to eat it. Enjoy your meal!
