Kommersant reports that the Kremlin hopes Vladimir Putin's visit to Uzbekistan will result in the signing of a "significant package" of bilateral documents.
The leader of Russia will be a guest of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for two days on the 26th and 27th of May.
The documents revealed by RIA Novosti state that an essential joint project is constructing a Russian design nuclear power plant in the republic. Currently, the parameters of the general contract for the nuclear power plant are being agreed upon, and the issues of building a station with small nuclear reactors in the country are being worked out.

Russia not only intends to develop its energy projects in Uzbekistan but also wants to participate in other vital sectors of the economy.
According to Kommersant, Moscow and Tashkent are also discussing the construction of a copper processing plant and a gas chemical complex in Uzbekistan. The newspaper emphasizes that both countries plan to jointly create a metallurgical cluster at the rich Tebinbulak iron ore deposit.
