The illegal removal of Ukrainian children and their adoption in Russia is one of the methods used by Vladimir Putin's regime to combat Ukrainian national identity. Other countries, including Canada, recognize this issue. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that his country would allocate £12 million to combat this phenomenon.

Sunday marks the 844th day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Currently, Russians are attacking along the entire front line. According to the latest report from the Ukrainian General Staff, there have already been 70 clashes in the last 24 hours. The Russians are shelling and bombing Ukrainian army positions, as well as towns near the front line.

However, there is an aspect of the battles that is not talked about daily. It is the removal of Ukrainian children to Russia. This was raised at the peace summit in Switzerland, which was attended by 80 countries from around the world. It is known that Canada will allocate £12 million to combat this practice.

Some time ago, the International Criminal Court ruled the kidnapping of Ukrainian children was a war crime.

War in Ukraine. 20,000 children taken to Russia

According to Ukrainian intelligence, the illegal deportation of children is a form of cultural genocide. They claim that since the invasion began, at least 20,000 Ukrainian children have been abducted.

The adoption of children abducted from Ukraine is overseen by the Russian Ministry of Education, which has even prepared a special programme for this purpose so they will become "exemplary Russians." It is reportedly overseen by Vladimir Putin himself.

According to Russia's Commissioner for Children's Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, Russians do not have the ability to adopt children from the new regions. Her statements have often proven to be lies.

Only care or foster family - claims Maria Lvova-Belova.

These words do not match reality. Journalists from Meduza, after reviewing reports from the Ministry of Education "concerning the identification and placement of orphans and children left without parental care" for the 3rd quarter of 2023, found documents confirming the programme of adopting Ukrainian children on a large scale.

Both Lvova-Belova and Vladimir Putin are wanted for war crimes in connection with the abduction and removal of Ukrainian children.
