Putin's missile threats escalate tensions in Kyiv conflict
Vladimir Putin has threatened that the targets of the new Russian missile attacks could include decision-making centres in Kyiv during a propagandistic speech in Astana. In the past, dictators often made similar threats.

Many of the reports provided by Russian media or government representatives are propaganda. They are part of the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.
Putin stated that the Russian Ministry of Defence, along with the General Staff, is currently "selecting targets for destruction" on Ukrainian territory.
"These could be military facilities, defence and industrial enterprises, or decision-making centres in Kyiv," he said.
Putin threatens: "Russia will respond to every attack"
The dictator also declared that Russia will respond to every Ukrainian attack using long-range Western weapons. For this purpose - as he emphasised - the Russian army may use the Oreshnik ballistic missile again. The same kind that fell on Dnipro last week.
The dictator stated that his country has several Oreshniks ready for use and has already begun their serial production.
Putin also mentioned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He again referred to him as the "leader of the Kyiv regime," who - in addition to missiles - "begs his patrons for other military equipment."
Putin claimed that the Kyiv regime's leaders have forfeited legitimacy by avoiding elections and lacking the authority to command the armed forces. He argued that those obeying the directives of Ukraine's current rulers are complicit in their alleged crimes despite this assertion being contrary to the facts.
