The pre-election debate will begin tonight (09/10) around 2 AM Greenwich Mean Time. The clash between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris may have significant implications for the presidential election results in the USA. Remember, Americans will go to the polls on November 5.
Why will the pre-election debate be so important? As shown by polls published by CNN, the Republican and Democratic candidates are running neck and neck. Currently, the incumbent Vice President of the USA has a slight edge.
In the first of the studies, Kamala Harris enjoyed the support of 49 percent of those surveyed. This is the average support for the candidate between 23 August and 6 September. Meanwhile, Donald Trump received 48 percent of the votes. The CNN Poll of Polls Centre conducted the poll.
On the other hand, a survey published on Monday (09/09) by the Pew Research Center indicates a tie. Harris and Trump both enjoy 49 percent support. It should be noted that the Democratic candidate's lead is within the margin of error.
Debate in the USA: The clash for the presidential seat
Experts do not doubt that today's debate could greatly influence the course of the elections in the United States. Democrats announce that it's a "clash between a young prosecutor and an old criminal," referring to the convictions hanging over the former US president's head.
On the other hand, Republicans are convinced that Donald Trump will defeat Kamala Harris in a direct clash. They believe their candidate will perform "even better than in his clash with Joe Biden". It should be added that shortly after the debate, the incumbent president announced that he would not seek re-election.
