Porsche focuses on hybrid innovation amidst electric shift
The German brand will not present a fully electric 911 before the end of the decade. However, it will clearly focus on hybrids. In fact, the hybrid Carrera and Carrera GTS are already available. Next year, the Turbo is expected to join them.
During a recent conference, Porsche's Chief Financial Officer, Lutz Meschke, confirmed that the hybrid Turbo will be launched in 2025. Like the previously mentioned versions, it will utilise Varta batteries as part of a strategic partnership. A few months ago, Porsche announced plans to acquire a majority stake in V4Drive Battery GmbH, a subsidiary of Varta.
Porsche's spokesperson, Luke Vandezande, has not yet revealed technical details about the new Turbo. He is also more cautious than his colleague regarding the timeline. However, he confirms that the Turbo will indeed come to market.
"We can confirm that we have, among other versions, a new turbo variant in the 911 pipeline. As usual, we will choose an innovative drive train concept for the highest-performance derivative of our icon. However, we are not in a position yet to confirm the exact timing," he says in an interview with "Motor1".
Soon, we should learn more details about the upcoming model, which represents another revolution in the Porsche lineup.
