Houseplants serve decorative and practical functions. Some thrive in the bathroom, helping to remove toxins and unpleasant odours.

The bathroom is one of the most important rooms in the house. It is where we start and end our day. We want it to be clean, fragrant, and pleasant. To achieve this, it's worth placing a few plants in it. Some species purify the air from toxins and eliminate excess moisture. We explain which plants are suitable for growing in the bathroom.

Which plants are suitable for growing in the bathroom?

Specific conditions in the bathroom promote the growth of bacteria, mould, and fungi, which can lead to unpleasant smells. How can you get rid of them? After each bath, open the door wide to ventilate the room and remember to clean regularly.

Plants suitable for growing in the bathroom will also help. These include the Boston fern, peace lily, prayer plant, and monstera. The Boston fern is very easy to grow. It requires suitable soil and must be generously watered, as this species thrives in a warm and humid environment. Placed in the bathroom, it will grow beautifully and purify the air from excess toxins.

According to NASA studies, another bathroom-friendly plant is the peace lily, which removes components such as acetone, benzene, ammonia, alcohol, formaldehyde, xylene, and trichloroethylene from the air. Its leaves also absorb excess moisture, preventing the growth of mould and fungi.

The prayer plant is popular with its unique, multicoloured leaves. It thrives best in the shade and can be grown in a windowless bathroom; however, remember to give it access to sunlight for two hours a day.

Place it in the bathroom. It will grow like never before

Monstera is one of the most popular houseplants. There are 37 different species of this plant worldwide. It occurs naturally in South and Central America, where it reaches up to 20 metres (65 feet) in height. It thrives best in a warm and humid environment. If you want to grow it in the bathroom, place it next to the window so it has constant access to light. After a few months, its perforated leaves will appear, a true room decoration.
