Four people were taken to hospital following the aviation accident involving the pilot of a twin-engine propeller plane. The aircraft unexpectedly ended up on the motorway.
The pilot, who was the only person on board the plane, was not injured. Remarkably, there were no fatalities.
Plane crash. It looked dangerous, but everyone came out unscathed
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation. It is believed that the cause of the crash was an engine failure.
The Piper PA-31 propeller plane with only the pilot on board crashed near a motorway overpass in Victoria, approximately 240 kilometres southwest of Houston. The aircraft broke into two pieces.
A piece of the wreckage came to rest on one of the cars that were on that stretch of road at the time the plane fell to the ground. Three vehicles were damaged. The moment of the accident was accidentally recorded on video.
Eline Moya, Deputy Chief of Police for the city of Victoria, reported that three people sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and one person was taken to hospital for evaluation. The pilot was also examined.
Moya expressed relief that such incidents are rare and noted gratitude that those affected receive proper medical care.
