Pea patties: A protein-packed tradition reimagined
These patties don't contain a single gram of meat, yet they are delightfully filling. Once someone tries them, they often return to this recipe. I've been making them for years, and my immediate and extended family have grown to love them. It's not a dish that's frequently eaten.

In traditional cuisine, dishes made with peas were very popular. They're not as common on our tables now because they are viewed as time-consuming and difficult to digest. However, it's worth reconsidering this.
A good source of protein
Peas are one of the oldest and most versatile legumes. Although they might not be as popular as chickpeas or lentils, their nutritional value and beneficial effects on health are undeniable.
Peas are a rich source of protein, containing about 25% protein, making them an excellent meat substitute. This makes them particularly valuable for those on vegetarian and vegan diets. Additionally, peas are low in calories and have a low glycemic index.
Aids digestion
One of the main benefits of peas is their positive effect on the digestive system. The fibre in peas aids digestion and prevents constipation. Regular consumption of peas can also help lower blood cholesterol levels, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Peas also contain many vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, B vitamins, magnesium, potassium, and iron. These nutrients support the immune system, improve skin, hair, and nail condition, and help maintain the proper functioning of the nervous system.
Not just soup
Peas are often used in soup, but many other delicious dishes can be made from them. Peas are great for salads, spreads, and also vegetarian patties.
