Another sports commentator was removed from the Olympic Games. Bob Ballard from British Eurosport was penalised by the station for a comment made after the success of the Australian swimmers. His sexist words did not go unnoticed.

The Olympic Games in Paris are filled with intense emotions, leaving many commenting on social media, but not in a sexist way. Bob Ballard, the Eurosport commentator from the United Kingdom, was recently removed from covering this prestigious event for this exact misdemeanour.

On Saturday, at the Olympic Games in Paris, there was, among other things, a 4 × 100-metre freestyle relay. The swimmers from Australia won the gold medal. While commenting on the events at the Olympic pool, Bob Ballard made a controversial comment.

“The women just finishing up. You know what women are like, hanging around, doing their make-up,” said Bob Ballard, just moments after Emma McKeon, Shayna Jack, Mollie O'Callaghan, and Meg Harris won Olympic gold and left the Paris Aquatic Centre.

Commentating alongside Bob Ballard on sports struggles, Lizzie Simmonds stated that his comment was "scandalous." Viewers' outrage was not long in coming. The heads of British Eurosport quickly reacted to the sexist words of their employee. The station decided to remove the sports journalist from commenting further on the Olympic Games and issued a special statement in the media.

“During a segment of Eurosport's coverage last night, commentator Bob Ballard made an inappropriate comment. He has therefore been removed from our list of commentators with immediate effect,” could be read in the station's statement quoted by "The Guardian".
