Paris Olympics conclude: Heroic last marathoner wins hearts

The Olympic Games in Paris have come to an end. One of the last events at the French event was the marathon, which took place on Sunday. The last finisher was Bhutan's Kinzang Lhamo. She completed the race over an hour and a half after the top runner. However, the fans appreciated her incredible spirit and waited until the end to see her finish.

Two weeks of the Olympic Games in Paris have gone down in history. In total, several thousand athletes competed in over 300 events. It was a time of great emotions, competition, happiness, and tears.

One of the last events in Paris was the women's marathon, which took place in the city centre and covered a distance of 42 kilometres. The gold medal was won by Sifan Hassan, who represented the Netherlands but is originally from Ethiopia. The winner achieved a time of 2:22:55, setting a new Olympic record. She was three seconds ahead of the silver medallist, Tigist Assefa from Ethiopia, and fifteen seconds ahead of Kenya's Hellen Obiri.

Over an hour and a half later, the last competitor in this event finished the race. It was Kinzang Lhamo from Bhutan, located in Asia. - Bhutan runner Kinzan Lahmo may have finished last in the women's marathon, but has won the hearts of Paris - wrote the Eurosport portal on X. - One of the most heartwarming moments of the games - they added.

The posted video shows the exhausted athlete after the gruelling distance. However, the fans didn't let her give up for a moment. They encouraged her with loud applause and cheers as she approached the finish line. Nobody noticed her time; everyone appreciated her spirit and desire to compete. This may be because the 26-year-old is a soldier in the Royal Bhutan Army, stationed in the western part of the country.

It is worth noting that 11 athletes did not finish the marathon.
