"Deadpool & Wolverine" breaks pre‑sale records ahead of release

Two months remain until the cinema premiere, and "Deadpool & Wolverine" has already broken its first records. Last Tuesday, ticket pre-sales for the movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman began. Disney announced that tickets worth £6.5 million were sold on the first day.

"Deadpool & Wolverine" premiered in American and Polish cinemas on 26th July at 6:00 PM GMT. It will be one of the few comic book adaptations in this year's cinema repertoire. In recent months, productions with comic book origins have sold terribly, so studio executives decided to halt or delay the premiere of many projects. However, despite the apparent downturn, no one seemed to doubt the commercial success of the movie "Deadpool & Wolverine". The pre-sale figures confirm that it's a box office sure thing.

In the first 24 hours, ticket pre-sales for the first week of the movie's release in the United States reached £6.5 million. This is the best result in history among films rated R (for people over 17 years of age) and the best in the post-pandemic period (in 2022, "Batman" collected £5.3 million).

Pre-sale figures indicate that "Deadpool & Wolverine" could earn around £122 million during its opening weekend in the States. So far this season, no film has surpassed the £81 million mark at the start. "Dune: Part Two" grabbed £67 million at the beginning.

The success of the movie "Deadpool & Wolverine" largely relies on the return to the role of "Wolverine." In 2017, when "Logan" was shown in theatres, Hugh Jackman announced that he would no longer play the character of Wolverine. However, a new comic book hero, Deadpool, appeared, who "brought the wolf out of the woods."

The taunts of Wade Wilson in the film and Ryan Reynolds himself in interviews had an effect. Hugh Jackman appeared in the third part of "Deadpool." The Hollywood star quickly withdrew his statement about bidding farewell to the comic book character. Additionally, Jennifer Garner, who first played the character Elektra in the 2003 comic book adaptation "Daredevil" and then starred in the leading role in the movie "Elektra" two years later, is also in the cast.
