Sex is an entirely natural and beautiful act. Love can be practised in many different ways. The most important aspect is finding a method that brings both partners the most pleasure and satisfaction. It is also essential to consistently take measures to protect oneself and care for the health of both ourselves and our partners. It turns out that even our oral hygiene can impact our risk of disease.
Oskar Kaczmarek, known online as "Dr Microbiome," is the medical director of one of the Polish medical centres and is active on social media. He has over 300,000 followers on Instagram and over 20,000 fans on TikTok. He specialises in the microbiome and explains how to take care of our health and avoid diseases in unexpected situations.
The expert explains why oral sex with a smoker is a bad idea
Oral sex, also known as French love, is a prevalent form of sexual intercourse. As stated on the doz.pl portal, it involves stimulating the partner's intimate areas with the tongue and mouth. It can be a prelude to vaginal penetration or completely replace it. For everyone who engages in oral sex with a smoker, we have bad news: it’s a dangerous idea.
"Oral intercourse with a partner who smokes cigarettes can be hazardous for women's intimate areas. Why? Because in the oral cavity of chronic smokers, specifically in the gum pockets, my favourite periopathogens multiply rapidly. In contact with the microenvironment of the woman's intimate areas, they disrupt its protective functions. With insufficient oral hygiene, it can be problematic," said expert Oskar Kaczmarek on TikTok.
"Whether it will lead to intimate discomfort after intercourse depends greatly on individual factors. However, remember that we don't need to struggle with symptomatic gynaecological infections to be nearly defenceless against sexually transmitted infections in such conditions, including chlamydia or trichomoniasis, which often occur asymptomatically," continued Doctor Microbiome.
Oskar Kaczmarek stated that if the partner does not intend to quit smoking and also has oral issues, one should choose to avoid oral sex. He also emphasised that cigarettes significantly affect the quality of sperm in men. In summary, smoking cigarettes is not worth it at all.
