O.J. Simpson has died. The American was an NFL star, widely known for the high-profile trial in which he was acquitted of the murder charge. He was 76 years old.
From an early age, O.J. was a promising athlete upon whom great expectations were placed. During his college years, he set a world record in the 4 × 100 m relay with other team members. Simpson also performed well in the NFL league, joining in 1969. He played for the Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco 49ers. He ended his football career after ten years, by which time he was the second-highest-ranking player in history in terms of yards gained. In 1973, he was named the NFL's Most Valuable Player.
In 1994, the former football player and actor was accused of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend, Ron Goldman. Jealousy and a desire for revenge for Nicole leaving him were cited as motives. The Simpson trial dubbed the "trial of the century," was extensively covered in the media, and he was represented in court by Kim Kardashian’s father, Robert.
However, his sports career was not limited to football alone. In later years, the footballer focused on media activities. O.J. became a sports commentator and embarked on a career in Hollywood. Among his most famous acting roles was the character of Police Officer Nordberg in the comedic movie series "Naked Gun".
