North Korean troops face grave losses in Ukraine conflict
The South Korean National Intelligence Service has revealed information about Kim's soldiers in Ukraine, reporting "massive losses." In the conflict against Ukraine, at least 300 North Korean soldiers have died, and 2,700 have been injured, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap, citing intelligence sources.
The details from the South Korean National Intelligence Service were disclosed during a closed session of the parliamentary intelligence committee. Lee Song Kwen, a representative of the ruling People Power Party, confirmed the information concerning North Korean losses.
An analysis of combat operation recordings indicates "massive losses" among North Korean soldiers who were sent to aid Moscow in the war against Ukraine. These losses are attributed to their "lack of understanding of modern warfare," including "pointless" firing at drones, according to the intelligence data agency Yonhap.
The National Intelligence Service confirmed earlier reports that North Korea is forcing its soldiers to commit suicide to avoid being captured by Ukrainian armed forces.
Ukraine captured the first prisoners
Commenting on the footage released by Ukraine featuring two North Korean prisoners of war, Lee stressed that one of the prisoners expressed no desire to return to North Korea.
According to data from the National Intelligence Service, two soldiers from North Korea who were captured by Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region of Russia served in the General Reconnaissance Bureau, a key North Korean intelligence agency.
