In his speech, Kim Jong Un called for the strengthening of "political and military strength." He also emphasised the need to achieve "combat effectiveness" that would enable the waging of war.
The dictator also addressed "threats from the United States and their allies." He described US support for Seoul and Tokyo as an "Asian NATO," which, according to him, escalates tensions.
At the same time, Kim Jong Un assessed that relations with South Korea are so poor that they have led to "the greatest tension in history." In his view, the Korean Peninsula has thus become the "greatest flashpoint in the world."
Cooperation with Russia tightens
Reuters recently reported that military cooperation between North Korea and Russia is intensifying. Over 10,000 North Korean soldiers were reportedly deployed to fight against Ukrainians, some of whom have already participated in clashes in the Kursk region.
Recently, a Russian delegation led by the Minister of National Resources, Alexander Kozlov, arrived in Pyongyang for trade talks. This visit aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
Last week, Kim Jong Un oversaw a test of kamikaze drones and ordered their mass production. The dictator highlighted "the intensifying competition in this field globally."
